Emergency First Response First Aid at Work is a CPR and first aid course specifically designed to meet workplace health & safety training requirements in Australia & New Zealand. Emergency First Response First Aid at Work (Asia Pacific) currently meets the requirements in the following Australian states/territories:

  • Vocational Training in Australia: HLTFA201B Apply First Aid
  • New South Wales - WorkCover NSW Approval Number FA 03146
  • Queensland
  • Northern Territory
  • Western Australia
  • Victoria
  • Australian Capital Territory
  • Tasmania

A Statement of Attainment will be issued from upon successful completion of the program.

The EFR First Aid at Work course requires renewal every three (3) years, with annual refreshment of CPR skills recommended.

First Aid at Work is an extensive program that covers primary and secondary care topics.

Primary Care

In the Primary Care section of the course, participants learn how to respond to life-threatening emergencies. This part of the course focuses on primary care through a combination of knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice, to make sure participants have confidence in their ability to provide care when emergency situations arise. The Primary Care (CPR) skills taught in this part of the course are:

  • Scene Safety Assessment
  • Universal Precautions - Communicable Disease Protection, including barrier use
  • Primary Assessment
  • Rescue Breathing
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Conscious and Unconscious Obstructed Airway Management
  • Serious Bleeding ManagementShock Management Spinal Injury Management

Recommended skills:

  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training
  • Emergency Oxygen Use Orientation

Secondary Care

The Secondary Care (first aid) section of the course covers injuries or illnesses that are not immediately life threatening. Participants focus on secondary assessment and first aid through knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice.

The Secondary Skills taught in this part of hte course:

  • Injury Assessment
  • Illness Assessment
  • Bandaging
  • Splinting for Dislocations and Fractures

Allergic Reactions, Bruises, Burns, Chemical Burns, CPR (adult, child, infant) Choking (adult and infant), Cone Shell Stings, Coral, Jellyfish and Hydroid Stings, Cuts, Dental Injuries, Diabetic Problems, Dislocations and Fractures, Electrical Injuries, Eye Injuries, First Aid Kit Assembly, Fish Spine Injury, Frostbite, Heat Exhaustion, Heatstroke, Heart Attack, Hypothermia, Illness Assessment, Injury Assessment, Insect Stings, Octopus Bites, Poisoning, Rescue Breathing (adult, child, infant) Scrapes, Seizures, Snake Bites, Spider Bites, Sprains and Strains, Stroke, Temperature Related Injuries, Venomous Bites and Stings, and Illness Assessment Record Sheet.
