Wreck Diving
SPECIALTY
Explore sunken treasures!
Wreck Diver Specialty
If you love wrecks, this is the course for you!
Whether sunk on purpose as an artificial reef or the result of a mishap, wrecks open fascinating windows to the past. Most divers find wrecked ships and planes nearly irresistible because they’re intriguing to explore and usually teeming with aquatic life.
As you near hte bottom, a recognisable shape beings to form. First, you see a straight line, then a round window. Next a ship materialises in front of you. As you look at the wreck, past and present meet.
The PADI Wreck Diver course teaches you the ins and outs of rewarding, responsible wreck diving. It allows you to visit wrecks, unlocking mysteries and starting to develop your skills and knowledge for a future of wreck diving exploration all around the world’s oceans!
What You Learn
- Techniques for diving & exploring shipwrecks, and how to avoid common hazards.
- How to research and learn the background of your favourite wrecks.
- Wreck scuba diving equipment considerations.
- Considerations and techniques for penetrating intact wrecks.

During the course we will dive “The Tugs”, two ex-firefighting vessels which were purposely scuttled back in 1988. The Tasman Hauler (pictured) & the Henry Bolte now lie in TwoFold Bay, off Eden in about 30m of water, making them ideal for scuba exploration. THey are safe and simple to navigate and loads of fun to poke about in! We will do four dives on the two wrecks over two days.
Your course cost of $415 includes all learning materials, four course dives, scuba gear hire, accommodation on Friday and Saturday night at the Merimbula Divers Lodge, air fills and breakfast each morning. At the lodge, everything is provided except for bedding and towels.
