DIVE & ADVENTURE

There’s always something going on at Dive & Adventure!

What’s On at the Dive Shop?

Seal

Seal season has begun in Jervis Bay and we’ll be heading up to the seal colony regularly over the coming months to spend some time with these playful, graceful creatures. If you’ve never “danced” with a seal underwater now is your opportunity to experience this unforgettable interaction. Call the shop to book a spot! Our calendar has details of future trips.

There are loads of good reasons to get in the water in winter, seals are just one of them. Westerly winds and flat seas are delivering great vis at the moment and water temp is steady at about 16-17 degrees. The other special thing about winter diving is the opportunity to spot and enjoy the antics of the migrating whales. There are more whales about than ever before and we often see them as we travel to and from dives. And you just never know ... we’ve seen them underwater once before too. Gotta be in it to win it!

Truk Lagoon

8 nights, departs 14 October 2011

Truk Lagoon is considered the best wreck diving location in the world, the site of an American attack in WWII that sent 60 ships and 275 Japanese planes to the bottom of the sea. Today divers enjoy the history & beauty of around 40 of these wrecks, lying as they fell during Operation Hailstone in 1944. The wrecks are stunningly beautiful, covered in soft corals and home to many varieties of sea life. They are a photographers dream!

The Febrina dive boat.

Each wreck has it’s own history and it’s own unique structure. The cargo varies widely-ammunition, periscopes, airplane engines & frames, jeeps, tanks, china and other artifacts litter the decks and quarters. Medicine bottles hold their magic elixir in the operating rooms below the deck. Telegraphs, covered in marine growth stand ready to signal the next direction to the navigators.

Truk Lagoon is a one-of-a-kind experience -- there is no other place like it in the world. This is a great value trip at $2650.
